Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking dish or an 8x8-inch square pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, applesauce, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, and egg until well combined and smooth.
  • Stir in the rolled oats, cinnamon, and salt until the mixture is cohesive.
  • Gently fold in the chopped apples.
  • Pour the oatmeal mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden and the oatmeal is set.
  • If using walnuts or pecans, sprinkle them on top of the oatmeal in the last 10 minutes of baking.

Serving

  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle with extra maple syrup if desired.

Notes
