Ingredients
  

For the brie

  • 1 wheel wheel of brie cheese Creamy and luscious

For the blackberry sauce

  • 1.5 cups blackberries Fresh and vibrant
  • 1/4 cup sugar Plus extra for the pecans
  • 1/4 cup water To bring the sauce together
  • 1 pinch salt To balance flavors
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar For depth and tang
  • 2 leaves basil Fragrant and herbal

For the candied pecans

  • 1 cup chopped pecans Crunchy and delicious
  • 1 tablespoon butter To create a glossy finish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • Remove the top layer of rind from the brie cheese.
  • Place the brie onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Make the blackberry sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the blackberries, 1/4 cup of sugar, water, salt, and balsamic vinegar.
  • Gently mash the blackberries with a fork or potato masher.
  • Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens (about 10 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and add basil leaves. Let steep for 10 minutes, then discard basil leaves.

Toast the pecans

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add chopped pecans.
  • Toast until fragrant, then add remaining sugar and butter, cooking until sugar melts and coats pecans.
  • Spread the candied pecans on a plate to cool.

Assembly and Baking

  • Top the brie generously with blackberry sauce and sprinkle with candied pecans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until warmed and melted.
  • Serve immediately with assorted crackers.
