Instructions
 

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced Cajun sausage and cook for about 5 minutes until browned.
  • Next, add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in the long-grain rice, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and stir. Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook on low heat for 18-20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit covered for a few minutes. Optional: sprinkle chopped green onions on top before serving.

Notes

For best results, slice sausage and chop veggies in advance. Using a large skillet helps blend flavors evenly.
