  • 1/2 tsp onion powder enhances overall taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt to elevate flavors
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper offers a gentle kick

  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Preparation

  • Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken strips in a mixing bowl and cover with buttermilk and 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning. Toss gently and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the breading: In a shallow bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, remaining Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Coating and Cooking

  • Coat the chicken: Remove chicken from refrigerator and let excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring a full coat.
  • Fry the strips: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken strips in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Drain and serve: Transfer cooked strips to a plate lined with paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For more intense flavor, marinate chicken for several hours or overnight. Consider baking at 400°F for a healthier option.
