Ingredients

For the Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef succulent and flavorful
  • 1 small onion, chopped for a hint of sweetness
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced adds an aromatic kick
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce enhances the umami flavor
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard brings a tangy depth
  • 1/2 tsp salt for seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper adds slight heat
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese rich and creamy
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese for melty goodness
  • 2 large eggs for binding
  • 1 cup milk adds moisture
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour to thicken the filling
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted for richness
  • 1 tbsp ketchup for a touch of sweetness
  • 1 tbsp mustard for that classic cheeseburger flavor

For Assembly

  • 1 9-inch refrigerated pie crust buttery and flaky
  • Pickles optional for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare your 9-inch pie pan by lining it with the pie crust, gently pressing it into the edges.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef. As the meat cooks, break it up using a spatula.
  • After a few minutes, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper; then remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.

Mixing

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and flour until smooth.
  • Mix in the melted butter, ketchup, and mustard, ensuring the mixture is well-blended.

Assembly

  • Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the pie crust.
  • Sprinkle both shredded cheeses over the beef layer.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the cheese and beef, making sure to cover all the ingredients evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in your preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown and set in the center.
  • Let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with pickles if desired.

Notes

Tip: Try using a mix of cheeses or add bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
