Ingredients
  

For the Fonduta

  • 1 baguette 1 baguette This will serve as the perfect vessel for dipping.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil A drizzle will add richness and flavor to the toasted baguette.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt Provides a creamy base.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese The gooey, melting cheese we all crave.
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a salty, nutty depth to the flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme For an herbal note that brightens the dish.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes A hint of heat to tantalize your taste buds.
  • 4 ounces smoked provolone cheese Bringing in that signature smokiness.
  • a dash cayenne pepper An optional extra kick to elevate the flavor profile.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the baguette into 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices and arrange them on a baking sheet.
  • Drizzle the sliced baguette with olive oil.
  • Bake the slices for 5 minutes, then flip and bake for an additional 3 minutes until lightly toasted.
  • Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, dried thyme, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  • Spread the cheesy mixture into a small baking dish, then layer smoked provolone on top.

Cooking

  • Bake the fonduta for about 10 minutes, or until melted and bubbling.
  • Switch to the broil setting and broil for about 1 minute until the top is slightly golden.

Serving

  • Serve immediately with the toasted baguette slices.

Notes

To elevate your experience, use fresh herbs, enhance smokiness with smoked paprika, or add veggies for extra flavor and nutrition. Presentation in a cast-iron skillet keeps it warm longer.
