Vegetables and Base

  • 2 tablespoons butter For sautéing vegetables

Creamy Mixture

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Forms the base of the creamy sauce
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan Adds depth to the flavor profile
  • 1 cup shredded smoked gouda Provides a rich, melty topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In an oven-proof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced onion and cook until edges begin to brown, about 5 minutes.
  • Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and let it simmer gently until it starts to thicken.
  • Gradually stir in the grated parmesan cheese.
  • Add in the sliced zucchini and yellow squash, stirring to combine and cook for another 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the shredded smoked Gouda over the top of the mixture.

Baking

  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

Notes

For variations, consider adding fresh herbs like thyme or basil, or adding proteins like cooked chicken or chickpeas. You can also switch up the cheese type for different flavors.
