Ingredients

For the Dip

  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced onions
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced celery
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons ranch or blue cheese salad dressing
  • 1/2 cup Cholula brand Original hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 cups cooked, chopped chicken breast
  • 1-1/2 cups Mozzarella or Cheddar Cheese, divided
  • 1-2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1-2 tablespoons fresh parsley or green onions (optional for garnish)

For Serving

  • 1 loaf baguette (sliced, buttered, and toasted)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large deep skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely diced onions and celery, sautéing until they become tender and fragrant.
  • Add the minced garlic and continue sautéing for an additional minute until the garlic is aromatic.

Cooking

  • Reduce the heat to low and introduce the cream cheese, stirring until it melts and forms a smooth base.
  • Mix in the sour cream, salad dressing, and Cholula hot sauce until thoroughly combined.
  • Stir in the spices: paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley.
  • Add the cooked, chopped chicken, gently stirring to ensure it’s well-coated with the creamy mixture.
  • Combine 1/2 to 3/4 cup of shredded cheese into the mixture, allowing it to melt and seamlessly blend.
  • If the dip appears too thick, add the heavy whipping cream, stirring to achieve your desired consistency.

Finishing Touches

  • Transfer the mixture into a serving casserole dish, ensuring an even spread.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese generously over the top.
  • Broil the dish on low until the cheese is melted and bubbly, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Serve immediately once it comes out of the oven, and garnish with fresh parsley or green onions if desired. Enjoy it warm with the sliced, buttered, and toasted baguette for dipping!

Notes

For an even creamier dip, ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature before mixing it in to prevent lumps. Consider adding shredded carrots or jalapeños for extra crunch and heat. Reserve some cheese to sprinkle on top before broiling for an impressive presentation. This dip can be prepared ahead of time and baked when needed.
