Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar in a medium bowl until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add the vanilla extract and cherry puree, blending until combined.

Chill the Mixture

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Churn the Ice Cream

  • Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically for 20 to 25 minutes.

Incorporate the Extras

  • Add in the pitted and halved cherries and chocolate chips during the last few minutes of churning.

Freeze & Serve

  • Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container, smoothing the top. Press a layer of parchment paper against the surface to prevent ice crystals.
