Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, and cocoa powder until the sugar is completely dissolved, ensuring that the cocoa is smooth.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to create a lush, chocolate-infused base.
  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is well chilled.

Churning

  • Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, for about 20-25 minutes, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  • During the last 2-3 minutes of churning, gently fold in the red velvet cake crumbs and mini chocolate chips.

Freezing & Serving

  • Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container. Smooth the top and freeze for at least 3-4 hours to allow it to set completely.
  • Scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones. Top with additional cake crumbs or a drizzle of chocolate sauce if desired.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for a richer flavor. Experiment with additional mix-ins like nuts or peanut butter. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, freeze in a shallow pan, stirring every 30 minutes until desired consistency is achieved.
