Ingredients

Cake Base

  • 1 cup Coca-Cola To infuse sweetness and richness.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil For moisture.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder To impart essential chocolate flavor.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For structure.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar To sweeten and create a tender crumb.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder For leavening.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda To react with the acids.
  • 1 teaspoon salt To enhance flavors.
  • 2 large eggs For binding.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For depth of flavor.
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows Optional, for a gooey, fun texture.

Frosting

  • 1 cup chocolate chips For a rich frosting.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream For silky smooth frosting.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare your 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing and dusting it with flour.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the Coca-Cola, vegetable oil, and cocoa powder. Heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a gentle boil, stirring constantly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Carefully pour the hot Coca-Cola mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Optionally, fold in the mini marshmallows.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Frosting

  • While your cake is cooling, combine chocolate chips and heavy cream in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until melted and smooth.

Assembly

  • Once the cake has cooled completely, pour the chocolate frosting over the top, spreading it evenly.

Notes

Common mistakes to avoid include overmixing the batter and neglecting to flour your pan properly. For fun variations, consider using whole wheat flour or mixing in nuts or berries.
