Ingredients

Noodles and Broth

  • 2 packs instant ramen noodles discard seasoning packet
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce for savory saltiness
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce adds depth and richness
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce for a touch of sweetness
  • 1 tsp sesame oil infuses a nutty aroma
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar balances the flavors
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar introduces a tangy zing
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced the aromatic base
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced adds warmth and spice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch optional for a thicker sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp chili paste or sriracha optional for spice

Garnishes

  • 1 tbsp green onions, chopped for garnish
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Instructions

Cook Noodles

  • Begin by cooking the ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Once they’re al dente, drain them and set aside, giving them a moment to cool.

Prepare Sauce

  • In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Whisk this mixture until it’s well-blended.
  • Pour the chicken broth (or water) into a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Once simmering, add the prepared sauce mixture and stir well.
  • Allow the sauce to simmer for 3-4 minutes until the flavors meld together. If thicker sauce is desired, dissolve cornstarch in 2 tbsp of water and add to the mixture.

Combine and Serve

  • Add the cooked ramen noodles directly to the saucepan, tossing them in the sauce until every noodle is thoroughly coated. If desired, mix in chili paste or sriracha.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat. Serve the ramen in bowls and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

To ensure noodles are firm, avoid overcooking. Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, or carrots. Substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth for a lighter version.
