  • 2 cups beef broth For the base of the gravy.
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste For richness.
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce Adds depth.
  • to taste Chopped fresh parsley for serving, optional Garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, egg, steak sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, and seasoning of salt and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well blended.
  • Shape the mixture into 16 to 20 meatballs, placing them on the prepared baking pan.

Cooking Meatballs

  • Bake for 16 to 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Making the Gravy

  • While the meatballs are baking, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, cooking for about 3 to 5 minutes until they're soft and fragrant. Once cooked, transfer the mushrooms to a plate, leaving the pan juices behind.
  • In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a smooth mixture. Gradually add the beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir continuously and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, cooking for another 3 to 5 minutes until thickened.

Combining

  • Return the sautéed mushrooms to the pan, and gently add the baked meatballs, allowing them to heat through in the flavorful gravy.
  • Serve the gourmet meatballs hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy with your favorite side dishes!

Notes

Consider using fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary in the gravy for additional flavor. For a variation, add grated Parmesan cheese to the meatball mixture for a cheesy twist. You can also add a dash of red pepper flakes to the gravy for some heat.
