Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cut the French bread in half lengthwise and brush each cut side with olive oil.
  • Sprinkle the minced garlic over both halves of the bread.

Toasting the Bread

  • Place the garlic bread in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes until crispy and golden.

Cooking the Filling

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add ground beef, onion, and green bell pepper.
  • Cook until the meat is browned and vegetables have softened, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.

Assembly

  • Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture over the toasted garlic bread.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Final Baking

  • Return the melts to the oven for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven, cut into slices, and serve warm.

Notes
