Preparation

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and optional sesame oil. Set this mixture aside to allow the flavors to meld together.

Cooking

  • Over medium-high heat, melt a tablespoon of butter in a large skillet or wok. Add the minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant—about 30 seconds. Be careful not to burn the garlic!
  • Add the bite-sized chicken pieces to the skillet, tossing them to combine with the garlic. Allow the chicken to sauté for a few minutes until it starts to brown.
  • Pour in the prepared sauce mixture, stirring to coat each piece of chicken evenly.
  • Continue to stir-fry the chicken for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce has cooked down and the chicken is fully cooked and seared on the outside.
  • If using, finish with a drizzle of sesame oil for extra flavor. Serve the Hibachi Chicken hot with hibachi rice, hibachi noodles, or a side of hibachi-style vegetables.
