Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup raspberry jam or preserves
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Frosting Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp milk to reach desired consistency

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm milk, waiting about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy and fragrant.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, salt, eggs, and the foamy yeast mixture. Stir until well combined for a smooth batter.
  • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a clean cloth and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Filling & Shaping

  • While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing raspberry jam, softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl until well combined.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread the raspberry filling evenly over the dough but leave about 1 inch from the edges for easier rolling.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from one of the long edges. Slice the log into 12 equal rolls, each providing a glimpse of the colorful filling.

Baking

  • Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving some space between each roll for expansion.
  • Cover with a clean cloth and let the rolls rise again for another 30 minutes, allowing them to puff up even more.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown and tantalizingly fragrant.

Frosting

  • Meanwhile, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until the frosting reaches a smooth texture.
  • Once the rolls are baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before drizzling the luscious cream cheese frosting over the tops.

Serving

  • Serve immediately and enjoy the heavenly combination of flavors that will warm your heart and please your palate!

Notes

For an extra special touch, consider adding a sprinkle of chopped nuts on top of your frosting or incorporating fresh blueberries into the filling alongside the raspberry jam. If you’re in a hurry, the dough can be prepared and left to rise in the fridge overnight, which will also enhance the flavor. Remember to serve the rolls warm for the best experience, and don’t hesitate to double the recipe to satisfy a crowd!
