  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract enhancing the flavors of the frosting

Instructions

Preparation

  • Mix 1/2 cup of warm milk with the active dry yeast and 1/4 cup of sugar in a bowl. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine flour, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Pour in the yeast mixture and combine to form a dough.
  • Knead the dough gently on a floured surface until smooth, then place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread 1/4 cup of softened butter over it. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
  • Roll the dough tightly from the long side, slice it into rolls, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Prepare the frosting by mixing softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

Ensure milk is warm, not hot, for yeast activation. Don’t rush the rising time for best texture. You can add chocolate chips or nuts to the filling for variation.
