Instructions

Preparation of Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in heavy cream, whole milk, and season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  • Reduce heat to low and stir in shredded cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese until smooth.

Layering and Baking the Potatoes

  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish and pour half of the cheese mixture over the top. Repeat layers.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45-50 minutes until the potatoes are just tender.
  • Remove foil, sprinkle more cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until golden brown.

Cooking the Ribeye Steaks

  • While the potatoes bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Season ribeye steaks with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time as needed for different doneness.
  • Add butter and rosemary to the pan to baste the steaks for extra flavor.

Serving

  • Let the ribeye steaks rest, then plate them alongside the cheesy scalloped potatoes.
  • Garnish potatoes with fresh parsley and enjoy.

Notes

For enhanced steak flavor, let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. Consider adding Worcestershire sauce or a dry rub for extra taste. Various cheeses can elevate the scalloped potatoes even further.
