Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces steaks (flank or ribeye, sliced thinly against the grain)
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or fusilli) Perfect for holding onto the sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For sautéing
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce Adds a rich and tangy flavor
  • 2 tbsp honey To balance the spice with sweetness
  • 1 tsp sriracha or hot sauce Adjust to taste for heat
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped For a savory depth
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped Bringing in a fresh crunch
  • to taste Salt and pepper Essential for seasoning
  • for garnish Fresh parsley or cilantro Optional, adds freshness

Instructions

Cook the pasta

  • Start by bringing a large skillet or pan of salted water to a boil. Add your chosen pasta and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes. Once al dente, drain the pasta and set it aside.

Sear the steak

  • In the same pan, heat one tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the steak slices generously with salt and pepper. Sear them in the hot pan for 2-3 minutes on each side until beautifully browned and cooked to your liking. Remove from pan and set aside.

Sauté the veggies

  • In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Toss in the chopped onion and bell pepper, sautéing for approximately 3-4 minutes until they soften. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Prepare the sauce

  • Lower the heat to medium and stir in the BBQ sauce, honey, and sriracha. Let the sauce simmer for about 2 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

Combine the pasta and steak

  • Add the cooked pasta and seared steak back into the pan. Toss everything together until the pasta is coated with the sauce.

Serve and garnish

  • Dish out the hearty pasta into serving bowls, garnishing with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired. Enjoy hot!

Notes

Consider marinating the steak slices in olive oil, garlic, and BBQ sauce for added flavor. For more heat, increase the sriracha or add jalapeños. Feel free to incorporate other vegetables, such as zucchini or mushrooms. A splash of heavy cream can make the dish creamier.
