  • 1 sheet refrigerated puff pastry dough For a delicious flaky texture.
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese This will provide a creamy and smooth filling.
  • 10 oz thawed frozen spinach Packed with nutrients and flavor.
  • 2 cups freshly grated mozzarella cheese For a melty, cheesy goodness.
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning For a depth of flavor.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder For an aromatic touch.
  • 1 tsp salt To enhance all the flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper For a little kick.
  • 1 large egg To make an egg wash for a golden finish.
  • 2 tbsp water To mix with the egg for the wash.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the thawed and well-drained spinach with the softened cream cheese. Add in the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, and mix until well blended.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water for the egg wash.
  • Unroll the sheet of puff pastry on a clean surface, brush generously with the egg wash, and spread the spinach mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  • Sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the spinach.
  • Tightly roll the puff pastry into a log shape, brush the outside with the egg wash, and sprinkle salt and pepper on top.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the log into 1-inch slices and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 to 15 minutes, until the pastry puffs and turns golden brown.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Consider adding sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor. You can also use crescent roll dough for a different texture.
