Ingredients

Ice Cream Base

  • 2 cups heavy cream rich and velvety, providing a luxurious base
  • 1 cup whole milk creamy and sweet, enhancing the smoothness
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar adding just the right touch of sweetness
  • 1 bean vanilla bean cut lengthwise with seeds scraped into the mixture
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt balances sweetness and enhances flavors

Strawberry Swirl

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and chopped, juicy and bursting with flavor
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for the strawberry swirl
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice bright and zesty, enhances strawberry flavor

Instructions

Preparation of Ice Cream Base

  • Combine heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  • Cut the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape the seeds into the mixture, adding both the seeds and pod.
  • Slowly bring the mixture to medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves; do not boil.
  • Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes for flavor infusion.
  • If using vanilla extract, add it after removing the pan from heat.

Chill the Base

  • Remove the vanilla pod and allow the mixture to cool.
  • Once cooled, cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Strawberry Swirl Preparation

  • In a blender, combine fresh strawberries, 1/4 cup of sugar, and lemon juice; blend until smooth.
  • Pour the strawberry mixture into a bowl and set aside.

Churn and Swirl

  • After the base has chilled, pour it into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s directions.
  • Transfer half of the ice cream into a container, layer the strawberry swirl on top, then add the remaining ice cream.
  • Use a knife or spatula to swirl gently for a marbled effect.

Freezing

  • Cover the container and freeze for at least 4 hours.
  • Scoop and enjoy!

Notes

Ensure the mixture cools completely before refrigeration for better flavor. Properly chilled ice cream makers yield the best results.
