Ingredients

For the Rice

  • 2 cups rice This forms the foundation of your stack.
  • 3 cups chicken broth Infuses the rice with flavor.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Adds a rich, salty depth.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Provides an authentic flavor profile.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Adds warmth and aroma.

For the Beef

  • 1 pound boneless sirloin steak, thinly sliced Tender and juicy.
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce Sweet and tangy glaze.
  • 1/4 cup honey Balances the savory ingredients.
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger Adds a hint of spice.

For the Assembly

  • 1 whole avocado, sliced Provides a creamy contrast.

Instructions

Cooking the Rice

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, chicken broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork to separate the grains.

Preparing the Beef

  • In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced sirloin steak and cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently until browned and cooked through.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, honey, and grated ginger. Pour this over the cooked beef in the skillet, stirring to coat evenly.
  • Allow the beef to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Assembling the Rice Stack

  • Layer a generous portion of the cooked rice at the bottom of a plate or bowl.
  • Add a layer of teriyaki beef on top of the rice, allowing the juices to seep into the grains.
  • Top the beef with a few slices of fresh avocado.
  • Repeat the stacking process for each serving and garnish with extra teriyaki sauce or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Consider marinating the sliced sirloin steak in teriyaki sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking for extra flavor. For additional nutrition, you can add steamed broccoli or sautéed bell peppers.
